Get Set For Work

WHAT IS GET SET FOR WORK?
GSFW is a 10 week programme (longer if you need) designed to assist young people 15-17 years of age who are:

  • currently unemployed and keen to obtain employment
  • currently disengaged from school
  • and does not possess a vocational qualification of AQF Level 2 or above

WHAT DOES GSFW INVOLVE?

Get Set For Work is a 5-day per week programme made up of:

  • 2 days per week group & individual training.
  • 2 days per week work experience.
  • 1 day per week individual support.

In Get Set For Work, you will also have the opportunity to complete all or part of the nationally recognized Certificate I in Work Readiness or Certificate II in Workplace Practices.


If you have not completed Year 10, you will have the opportunity to complete all or part of Year 10 equivalent Mathematics and English through Certificate 2 in Access (year 10 equivalent).

 

THE MAIN EMPHASIS, HOWEVER, IS ON HELPING YOU TO GET A JOB!!!

The programme is for 10 weeks; however, you could obtain a job prior to that. If at the end of 10 weeks you are still looking for work, Worklinks will continue to assist you.

 

WHEN DOES GSFW START?


Participants can join at any time.


WHERE IS GSFW HELD?


At three separate locations - you choose which location suits you best:

  • Mitchelton
  • Zillmere
  • Lawnton

All locations are very close to train stations and bus transport.


ARE THERE ANY COSTS?

No.

You need to provide your own lunch. There are shops adjacent to the Mitchelton Worklinks Training Centre and shops are reasonably close to the Zillmere Training Room and Lawnton Training Room where you can purchase lunch if you wish. Worklinks will provide tea, coffee and biscuits for morning tea.


You do not need to bring any materials to the programme.


WHO PROVIDES THE TRAINING?


Worklinks has a very friendly and supportive staff available to provide help and assistance to you. Two trainers will be working with you. Other Worklinks staff members will also assist from time to time.

 

WHAT CLOTHING DO I WEAR?


Clothing needs to be neat. No bare midriffs. When on work experience, you will need to wear the type of clothing indicated by the employer.


WHAT ARE MY OBLIGATIONS UNDER GSFW?

  • To attend regularly (at least 20 hrs per week) and participate in all components of the programme
  • To work with your Worklinks trainers to achieve an outcome
  • To treat the trainers and others in the group with respect
  • To behave responsibly in the training room, when on work experience and during all programme activites.
