Current Partnerships
Youth Engagement Strategy
Worklinks is working with UQ, Ipswich City Council, the Department of Communities, QLD Police, key community organisations, schools and the Ipswich Chamber of Commerce to develop sustainable, pro-active and practical partnerships and strategies to build the capacity of the young people in our community. This strategy covers the challenges and opportunities associated with issues such as youth homelessness, disengagement from education and/or employment, youth violence and negative perceptions of young people across the community.
Transport Solutions
Worklinks is pulling together a group of key stakeholders and experts in the transport arena to develop strategies and solutions to the issue identified across the region for the need for affordable and accessible transport for young people - transport to work experience, work placements, apprenticeships, study, school-based traineeships and services.
Ipswich Mentoring Strategy
We are working with the Australian Youth Mentoring Network & Volunteering Ipswich to develop a strategy to increase the number of effective community-based mentoring programs across the city, and to support those programs already in existence.
Introducing BKSB within Job Services Australia Offices
BKSB (Basic and Key Skills Builder) is a computer based diagnostic tool that can identify literacy and numeracy gaps and will assist in reducing inappropriate training and employment referrals. On completion of the diagnostic assessment, the jobseekers' strengths and gaps are outlined in an individual learning plan.
Worklinks is currently working with a JSA who will be trialling this tool with the view to expanding this program throughout their network.
Trade Training Centres in Schools Programme
As an important element of the Commonwealth Government's Education Revolution, Worklinks has been assisting schools through connecting them with relevant industry stakeholders to enhance their applications for a Trade Training Centre in their region. Partnering with industry and community stakeholders is a key element of the success for Trade Training Centres.
Worklinks will also be working with schools who have expressed an interest in the Trade Training Centre for Schools Programme to assist in the preparation of students achieving Year 12 or equivalent qualifications. The project aim is to support school communities to establish regional skills hubs and develop business and industry partnerships for improved trade delivery.
