Youth Pathways

The Youth Pathways Programme (YPP) is an Australian Government initiative, funded by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations.

 

ARE YOU ELIGIBLE?
You are eligible for YPP assistance if you are aged 13 to 19 and are:
1. at risk of leaving school before completing year 12 and at risk of not making a successful transition through school and from school to further education, training or employment

or

2. have left school in the preceding 12 months without completing year 12 and at risk of not making a successful transition to further education, training or employment.


INELIGIBLE participants include:
Those who do not meet the eligibility criteria; those who do not have significant barriers to successful participation in education or training; those who only need minor assistance, career advice or interview skills and do not have personal factors that define them as 'at risk'; those who have completed year 12; students who have indicated that they would only leave school (prior to completing year 12) to take up an employment opportunity and are likely to make a successful transition; those in employment or tertiary studies or young people in Intensive Support Customised Assistance (ISCA) or Intensive Support Job Search Training (ISJST), JPET, Green Corp etc.


HOW CAN WORKLINKS YP HELP YOU?
Through participation in YP, you will receive personalised assistance specifically directed to YOUR needs. You will receive an initial assessment or reassessment, assistance, and ongoing support and guidance to help you overcome barriers to effective participation in education, training or employment services programmes.

Depending on your individual needs you may receive one or more of the following:

  • Assistance raising self esteem and motivation
  • Problem solving
  • Skills development
  • Counselling
  • Mentoring
  • Advocacy
  • Mediation
  • Assistance to access education, training and employment services
  • Referral to specialist support services
  • Career Guidance
  • Assistance with work readiness skills
  • Assistance with recommitment to, or return to school
  • Advice and information about Australian Apprenticeships (full-time/part-time/school-based)
  • Advice and information about school-based vocational options
  • Assistance with obtaining and maintaining employment
  • Literacy/numeracy training and/or referral
  • Referral to external and internal Job Network/ Placement Services
  • Referral to a new apprenticeship access programme
  • Referral to an Alternative Education Service or programme such as Get Set For Work
